Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Dough
- 17.5 ounce package sugar cookie mix
- ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- Pink/red food coloring, as needed
Fillings & Toppings
- 24-26 Hershey’s Hugs, unwrapped
- Decorative sprinkles, optional topping
Instructions
- Prepare Pan and Oven: Spray a mini cupcake pan with cooking spray and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Mix Dough: In a large bowl, beat together the sugar cookie mix, melted butter, all-purpose flour, egg, and pink/red food coloring until just combined. Adjust the food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
- Flatten Dough: Take about 1 tablespoon of the cookie dough and use your hand or a rolling pin to flatten it to roughly the size of your palm.
- Fill with Chocolate: Place an unwrapped Hershey’s Hug in the center of the flattened dough. Carefully wrap the dough around the Hershey’s Hug to form a ball, fixing any cracks with your hands as needed.
- Place in Pan: Place each filled dough ball upright into the cavity of the prepared mini cupcake pan. Repeat with the remaining dough and chocolates.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes or until the cookie dough edges appear set and lightly golden.
- Add Sprinkles: Remove the cookie cups from the oven and immediately press decorative sprinkles lightly onto the tops so they adhere.
- Cool: Let the cookie cups cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before removing and serving.
Notes
- Allow the cookie cups to cool for 15 minutes before removing them from the mini cupcake pan to avoid breaking.
- Fix any cracks that appear when wrapping the dough around the Hershey’s Hugs by gently molding with your hands.
- Use fun decorative sprinkles like hearts or flowers pressed onto the warm cookie cups for a festive touch.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
- Freeze individually wrapped cookie cups in a freezer-safe container or bag for 5-6 months.
