Description

Celebrate love with these delightful Valentine’s Day Cookie Cups featuring a soft, chewy sugar cookie base filled with a sweet Hershey’s Hug surprise and topped with decorative sprinkles. Perfect for gifting or sharing, these bite-sized treats are easy to make and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 17.5 ounce package sugar cookie mix
  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • Pink/red food coloring, as needed

Fillings & Toppings

  • 24-26 Hershey’s Hugs, unwrapped
  • Decorative sprinkles, optional topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan and Oven: Spray a mini cupcake pan with cooking spray and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix Dough: In a large bowl, beat together the sugar cookie mix, melted butter, all-purpose flour, egg, and pink/red food coloring until just combined. Adjust the food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
  3. Flatten Dough: Take about 1 tablespoon of the cookie dough and use your hand or a rolling pin to flatten it to roughly the size of your palm.
  4. Fill with Chocolate: Place an unwrapped Hershey’s Hug in the center of the flattened dough. Carefully wrap the dough around the Hershey’s Hug to form a ball, fixing any cracks with your hands as needed.
  5. Place in Pan: Place each filled dough ball upright into the cavity of the prepared mini cupcake pan. Repeat with the remaining dough and chocolates.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes or until the cookie dough edges appear set and lightly golden.
  7. Add Sprinkles: Remove the cookie cups from the oven and immediately press decorative sprinkles lightly onto the tops so they adhere.
  8. Cool: Let the cookie cups cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before removing and serving.

Notes

  • Allow the cookie cups to cool for 15 minutes before removing them from the mini cupcake pan to avoid breaking.
  • Fix any cracks that appear when wrapping the dough around the Hershey’s Hugs by gently molding with your hands.
  • Use fun decorative sprinkles like hearts or flowers pressed onto the warm cookie cups for a festive touch.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
  • Freeze individually wrapped cookie cups in a freezer-safe container or bag for 5-6 months.
