Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- ⅓ cup mascarpone cheese - preferably at room temperature
- 12 savoiardi biscuits (3.5 oz / 100 g) - ladyfingers
- 3 tablespoons brewed espresso coffee, cooled
- 3 teaspoons sifted powdered sugar
- Cacao powder for dusting
Instructions
- Brew and Cool Espresso: Brew 3 tablespoons of espresso coffee and set it aside to cool completely to ensure it doesn't melt the mascarpone later.
- Crush Ladyfingers: Blitz the 12 savoiardi biscuits in a blender or food processor until they reach a fine powdery consistency, similar to cookie crumbs.
- Prepare Cream Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the ⅓ cup of mascarpone cheese and 3 teaspoons of sifted powdered sugar. Add the cooled espresso coffee and mix thoroughly until you get a smooth cream mixture.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the crushed ladyfinger powder to the cream mixture. Using a rubber spatula, stir well until the mixture comes together as a thick batter, resembling cookie dough.
- Form Truffles: Scoop about a teaspoon of the mixture and roll it between your fingers to form a small ball. Repeat this process until you have approximately 10 truffle balls.
- Chill Truffles: Place the truffle balls on a plate and refrigerate them for 1 hour to set. This will keep the inside soft; for firmer truffles, chill for longer as desired.
- Dust and Serve: Put cacao powder in a small bowl and roll each chilled ball in the powder until well coated. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Tiramisu Truffles.
Notes
- Use good quality mascarpone cheese for the best creamy texture and flavor.
- Make sure the espresso is fully cooled before mixing to prevent melting the mascarpone.
- If savoiardi biscuits are unavailable, substitute with ladyfinger biscuits of similar size and texture.
- For firmer truffles, refrigerate for up to 2 hours or place in the freezer for 20 minutes before dusting with cacao.
- These truffles are best consumed within 2 days for optimal freshness.
