Description

These Oreo Snowman Cookies are a fun and festive treat made by coating Double Stuf Golden Oreos with rich white chocolate and decorating them to look like adorable snowmen. Perfect for holiday parties or a creative winter dessert, these cookies feature eyes made from black sugar pearls, a nose from orange tic tacs, a smiling mouth with more sugar pearls, and colorful earmuffs crafted from sour punch straws and M&Ms. Easy to make and delightful to eat, they bring a cheerful touch to any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Coating

  • 2 (10 oz.) bags Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers or white candy melts

Cookies and Decorations

  • 24 Double Stuf Golden Oreos
  • 168 black sugar pearl sprinkles
  • 24 orange tic tacs
  • 2 ounces pack sour punch straws cut in half (2-inch pieces)
  • 48 M&Ms (use same color pairs for earmuffs)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheets: Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside to catch any drips and allow the cookies to set.
  2. Melt White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each interval until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted.
  3. Coat Oreos: Dip each Golden Oreo into the melted white chocolate, ensuring it is fully and evenly coated. Lift the cookie out with a fork and gently tap on the edge of the bowl to remove excess chocolate. Place the coated cookie on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Work in small batches for best results.
  4. Decorate Faces: For each coated Oreo, add two black sugar pearls to form the eyes. Place an orange tic tac in the center to serve as the snowman’s nose. Then, create the mouth by placing five black sugar pearls in a semicircle under the nose to resemble a smile.
  5. Create Earmuffs: Attach a 2-inch piece of sour punch straw across the top of the Oreo as the earmuff strap; hold it in place for about 10 seconds until the white chocolate firms slightly and secures the straw. Attach one M&M on each side of the strap to complete the earmuffs, using matching colors on both sides.
  6. Repeat and Chill: Repeat the coating and decorating process with the remaining Oreos. Once all are decorated, chill the baking sheets with the cookies in the refrigerator for 10 minutes until the chocolate is fully set and firm.

Notes

  • Store these snowman cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking and protect decorations.
  • To make a smaller batch, melt only a small portion of chocolate at a time to avoid waste and keep unused wafers fresh for future use.
  • If black sugar pearls are unavailable for the mouth, try substituting with black confetti sprinkles or mini chocolate chips.
  • Orange sprinkles can be used instead of orange tic tacs for the nose; Wilton also offers snowman cookie decoration kits.
  • Get creative with earmuffs by swapping M&Ms for Skittles, peppermint candies, or Sprees. Twizzlers pull-n-peel can replace the sour punch straw for the strap.
  • Instead of candy decorations, use cookie icing in black and orange colors to draw the snowman’s face directly on the coated Oreos.
  • Try different Oreo flavors like Mega Stuf, mint, peanut butter, or peppermint to customize your snowmen.
  • Add a lollipop stick to the bottom of each snowman cookie before coating and decorating for a fun presentation. Wrap in cellophane and tie with ribbon for gifting.
