Instructions

  1. Cut avocado: Cut the avocado in half, remove the peel and pit, then slice into ¼-inch thick slices carefully to maintain shape.
  2. Prep coatings: In a small shallow bowl, mix together flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour non-dairy milk into a second small bowl. Place panko breadcrumbs in a third small bowl.
  3. Coat avocado: Working one slice at a time, dredge the avocado slice in the seasoned flour ensuring even coverage. Next, dip it into the non-dairy milk, then transfer to the panko breadcrumbs to coat both sides completely. Use one hand for dry ingredients and the other for wet to keep the process orderly.
  4. Arrange and spray: Place the coated avocado slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray the tops lightly with oil spray to promote crispiness.
  5. Air fry: Cook the avocado fries in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. There is no need to preheat the air fryer.
  6. Season and serve: While still hot, season with additional salt and pepper if desired. Serve immediately with chipotle mayo for dipping.
  7. Optional oven method: Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Place avocado fries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and spray tops with oil. Bake for 10 minutes, flip slices, spray again, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until crispy and golden.
