Crispy, guilt-free Air Fryer Fried Pickles made with seasoned Panko breadcrumbs, perfect for a healthy and delicious snack.
Ingredients
Scale
Pickles
- 6 pickles (cut into 12 quarters)
Breading
- 1 ½ cups Panko Breadcrumbs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons Montreal Steak seasoning or regular steak seasoning
Other
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Prepare flour: In a medium bowl, place the all-purpose flour to form the first coating layer for the pickles.
- Whisk eggs: In a second medium bowl, whisk the eggs together until smooth to create the binding agent.
- Mix breadcrumbs and seasoning: In a third medium bowl, combine Panko breadcrumbs and Montreal Steak seasoning for a flavorful coating.
- Coat pickles: Dip each pickle quarter first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the breadcrumb mixture. Place the coated pickles onto a plate as you go.
- Prepare air fryer basket: Spray the basket of the air fryer with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the pickles in a single layer without overlapping to allow hot air circulation. Spray the top of the pickles lightly with cooking spray.
- Cook pickles: Cook the pickles in the air fryer at 380 ˚F for 6 minutes until golden and crispy. Repeat the process for additional batches if necessary.
- Serve: Serve the crispy fried pickles immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Store fried pickles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
- Freezing is not recommended as it will cause the pickles to lose their crispiness.
- Reheat leftover fried pickles in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness and warmth.
- Use dill pickle quarters for best flavor, typically found in the refrigerated section of grocery stores.
- Arrange pickles so they do not touch in the air fryer to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- If Panko breadcrumbs are unavailable, regular breadcrumbs can be substituted but the texture may be less crispy.
- Cooking time may vary slightly depending on pickle size and thickness; adjust accordingly.
- Always spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray before use to prevent sticking.
