Description

A festive and spicy sweet snack, Red Hot Cinnamon Candy Popcorn combines crunchy popcorn coated in a cinnamon candy glaze with drizzles of smooth white chocolate and vibrant red sprinkles for a fun and flavorful treat perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn Mixture

  • 8 cups popped popcorn
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 1/3 cups Red Hots candies, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Toppings

  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips, divided
  • Red sprinkles (amount as desired)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the popped popcorn evenly on the sheet and set aside.
  2. Prepare cinnamon candy mixture. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in salt, 1 cup of Red Hots candies, sugar, and light corn syrup. Bring this mixture to a boil while whisking frequently. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda to create a light foam.
  3. Coat the popcorn. Quickly pour the hot cinnamon candy mixture over the popcorn on the baking sheet. Lightly toss the popcorn to coat it evenly with the candy glaze.
  4. Bake the coated popcorn. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and toss the popcorn again to ensure even coating. Allow it to cool completely.
  5. Melt white chocolate. In the microwave, melt 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips according to package instructions until smooth and creamy.
  6. Drizzle chocolate and add toppings. Using a spoon, evenly drizzle the melted white chocolate over the cooled popcorn. Immediately sprinkle the remaining 1/3 cup Red Hots candies, remaining 1/4 cup white chocolate chips, and red sprinkles over the popcorn to decorate and add extra flavor.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Work quickly when pouring the hot candy mixture to coat the popcorn before it hardens.
  • If you prefer less heat, reduce the amount of Red Hots candies slightly.
  • White chocolate chips can be substituted with candy melts or melted white almond bark.
  • Store popcorn in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
  • This popcorn is great for holiday parties, movie nights, or gifting.
