Description

Christmas Puppy Chow is a festive and delicious snack mix featuring a chocolate-peanut butter coating over crunchy rice Chex cereal, dusted with confectioners sugar and studded with holiday M&M’s. This easy no-bake treat is perfect for holiday parties and gift-giving.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Snack Mix

  • 9 cups rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 cup holiday M&M’s

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate and Peanut Butter: Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and creamy peanut butter to a large, microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each until smooth and the chocolate is completely melted.
  2. Add Butter and Vanilla: Stir the ⅓ cup melted butter and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract into the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture until fully combined.
  3. Combine with Cereal: Pour the 9 cups of rice Chex cereal into the bowl and gently toss with the chocolate mixture, being careful not to break the cereal pieces. Ensure the cereal is evenly coated.
  4. Coat with Sugar: Transfer the coated cereal into a large zip-top bag. Add the 3 cups of confectioners sugar, seal the bag tightly, and gently shake until the cereal is thoroughly coated with sugar. Repeat in batches if necessary.
  5. Add M&M’s and Serve: Pour the coated cereal into a bowl, stir in the holiday M&M’s, and serve immediately. Enjoy chilled or at room temperature.
