Ingredients
Scale
Dough and Cheese
- 16 oz can jumbo biscuits, each biscuit cut into fourths
- 7-8 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut into 31 pieces
- 1 large egg, beaten
Garlic Butter Topping
- 4 tbsp salted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- Optional: grated parmesan cheese for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Dough and Cheese: Cut each biscuit into fourths to yield 32 pieces, use 31 pieces for the recipe. Cut mozzarella sticks into 31 pieces as well.
- Assemble Cheese Balls: Place a piece of mozzarella on each dough square. Seal the edges tightly to form a ball by rolling smoothly between your hands.
- Shape the Christmas Tree: Arrange the cheese-filled dough balls on the lined baking sheet in a Christmas tree shape with seams down and balls touching slightly. Brush the top lightly with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 17 minutes or until golden brown, watching closely to avoid over-browning. Cover with foil if it browns too fast.
- Make Garlic Butter: While baking, melt butter and stir in minced garlic and Italian seasoning.
- Brush and Garnish: Remove bread from oven and brush with garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
- Serve: Serve hot immediately with marinara or pesto sauce for dipping.
Notes
- You can prepare the unbaked tree a day in advance; keep covered and refrigerated until ready to bake.
- Serve with pesto and marinara sauces, and include toothpicks for easy sharing.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container refrigerated up to 5 days. Reheat in microwave or air fryer.
- Save leftover garlic butter for other dishes like baked potatoes or garlic bread.
