Description

Delicious and crispy cauliflower fritters made with steamed cauliflower, parmesan cheese, and Italian breadcrumbs, perfect as a savory appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower chopped into small florets (about 3 cups)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Steam Cauliflower: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and steam the chopped cauliflower florets for 10 minutes or until tender but still mashable. Drain well and let cool slightly.
  2. Mash Cauliflower: In a large bowl, mash the steamed cauliflower with a fork or potato masher until slightly chunky.
  3. Mix Ingredients: Stir in the all-purpose flour, Italian breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, grated parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until the mixture is well combined and holds together.
  4. Form Patties: Shape the mixture into small uniform patties to ensure even cooking.
  5. Fry Fritters: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Cook the patties in batches for 8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Add more oil as needed between batches.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Garnish the fritters with chopped green onions and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour and breadcrumbs with gluten-free alternatives.
  • Use a non-stick skillet for easier cooking and less oil absorption.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat leftovers in a skillet or air fryer to restore crispiness.
  • You can add spices like smoked paprika or chili flakes for extra flavor.
